Your yacht, your day
Princess Giusy is a classic Baglietto built in 1971 by one of Italy's most famous shipyards, with room for up to 12 guests: four cabins and three bathrooms with shower, a saloon with a dining table and a lounge, air conditioning throughout, a flybridge and a large shaded cockpit for lunch and long conversations. A large swim platform lowers you straight into the water, and boarding is by electric gangway.
Gaeta and Sperlonga, the Riviera of Ulysses
You leave from Formia, where Cicero had his seaside villa. Gaeta, named after Caieta, the nurse of Aeneas, shows its Montagna Spaccata, the split mountain, and the Turk's Cave from the sea. Further on, the white houses of Sperlonga stand on their rock above the Grotto of Emperor Tiberius, where giant marble statues of Ulysses and the Cyclops were found in 1957. Drop anchor and swim where an emperor once dined.
Beyond the coast: the Pontine Islands
Ponza lies 35 miles out, which is why it is worth a weekend. Ponza has the crescent of Chiaia di Luna and the Grotte di Pilato, caves the Romans cut into the rock to farm moray eels. Palmarola, uninhabited and ringed with sea stacks, is called by many the most beautiful island in the Mediterranean. Take the week and Ventotene, Ischia, Procida and Capri follow: six islands in seven days.

FAQ
Questions about Princess Giusy
What private yacht cruises leave from Formia?
Four, all on the whole yacht Princess Giusy for up to 12 guests, fuel included: a day to Gaeta and Sperlonga (€1,900), two days at Ponza and Palmarola (€3,800), three days at Ponza and Palmarola (€5,700), and seven days around six islands (€13,300).
How far is Ponza from Formia by boat?
About 35 to 37 nautical miles of open sea; the regular ferry takes around two and a half hours. That is why Ponza is a weekend, not a day trip: on the two- and three-day options you sleep on board and have the island to yourselves in the evening.
Can you visit Palmarola by boat?
Only by boat: Palmarola is uninhabited, part of the Pontine Islands protected area, about 7 nautical miles from Ponza. Its sea stacks and the column-like cliffs called the Cathedrals, on the north side, are seen from the water, and you swim straight off the yacht.
Can you see the Grotto of Tiberius in Sperlonga from the boat?
Yes. The grotto, where Emperor Tiberius held banquets and where the marble statues of Ulysses and the Cyclops were found in 1957, faces the sea below Sperlonga. It belongs to the National Archaeological Museum, whose entrance is not included, and the sea in front is a protected area, so the skipper chooses where to anchor for the swim.
What is the Montagna Spaccata in Gaeta?
The 'split mountain': a cliff in Gaeta torn open from top to bottom, which legend says split at the moment of Christ's death. Deep inside is the Turk's Cave. The day cruise passes it from the sea.
How do I get to Formia from Rome or Naples?
By train: Formia-Gaeta station is about an hour from Rome Termini and about an hour to an hour and a half from Naples. The yacht leaves from the port of Formia at 11:00.
Do we sleep on board on the Ponza cruises?
Yes. Princess Giusy has four cabins with eight berths and three bathrooms with shower, plus a separate crew cabin. Food and drinks are not included; breakfast and lunch, or full board, can be arranged on request.
Which islands does the seven-day cruise from Formia visit?
Six: Ponza, Palmarola and Ventotene in the Pontine Islands, then Ischia, Procida and Capri in the Bay of Naples. The order follows the sea and the weather.
Can we have an Opera Lecture or a cooking class on Princess Giusy?
Yes, on request and at an extra cost, because our Salerno crew travels to Formia to run them. In an Opera Lecture, our founder shows the great masterpieces of opera on the yacht's TV and explains them; the cooking classes teach the secrets of Italian and Neapolitan cooking. Ask when you book. On Antonella IV in Salerno, both are included in the price.
Can I book a seat on Princess Giusy instead of the whole yacht?
Yes. Besides the private cruise, Princess Giusy sails shared day cruises from Formia to Gaeta and Sperlonga: you book only your own seats, at €320 per person with skipper, hostess and fuel included, and share the yacht with up to 12 guests. The shared cruise sails with at least 6 guests in total and is confirmed 3 days before; otherwise you choose another date, the whole yacht as a private cruise (paying the difference) or a full refund.
